Hotel Negresco, Nice
Since it first opened in 1913, the "Palace of Superlatives" - the Hotel Negresco on the Bay of Angles in Nice -
has been the object of widespread admiration. Henri Negresco, a Romanian, came to the city with the dream of opening
a hotel that would unite grandeur, luxury and magnificence. Madame Jeanne Augier, who now owns the hotel,
has remained true to this dream. The history of French art is reflected in throughout the rooms, from Louis XIV to modernism.
Carmen, the hotel's ginger cat, ambles through the magnificent lobby with a proprietary air: for Madame Augier the Negresco
is also a "place for animals".
