Edgar Brandt
Acclaimed as one of the leading masters of iron work in the 20th century, Edgar Brandt
(1880-1960) revolutionized welding technology. He brought fresh aesthetics to iron work through his
artistic combination of iron with bronze and steel, plated with gold and silver.
One of his most famous Art Deco works is the five-panel screen "L'Oasis",
which was sold at an auction for the record sum of US $1.9 million.

One of Brandt's outstanding creations of 1920 is Cobra, a hand-wrought iron incense burner. Sinuously coiled around the elegant burner, the serpent guards the smouldering incense with a flickering tongue.

Brandt created a perfectly-shaped pair: in each of these 20 cm lamp-stands six elegantly twisted, bronzed iron rods coil to form an eye-catching base. There's no keeping these two beauties apart.
