Bentley Etchings by Bernd Lehmann
Nobody hangs a classy Bentley on their wall unless, of course, the precious item has been preserved for posterity in two dimensions as an etching by Bernd Lehmann!
Aesthetic, exclusive, emotive... When Bernd Lehmann talks about his works of art, these adjectives just come bubbling out.
No wonder. After all, the skilled lithographer is a passionate artist and his creative output evokes more than a sober
recognition by the observant beholder.
The artist gained his fame on account of his etchings on the literary oeuvres of Hans Christian Andersen, Rainer Maria Rilke
and Adelbert von Chamisso. In his studio situated in the Lüneburg Heath in Northern Germany the 55-year-old artist developed
his artistic skills into creations that reach out far beyond the normal two-dimensional interpretation of art, thus enthralling
connoisseurs of literature and art alike.
Having previously focused on roses, wine bottles and portraits, this imaginative German artist has been proving his creative
powers by producing etchings of the most noble of motor vehicles. The German-British marque Bentley has inspired Lehmann
to create these remarkable etchings. The fact that a Bentley car is always a fascinating object is shown by the existence of
countless drawings, photographs and models dating from many decades.
Lehmann carries on this tradition with his impressive series "Retro meets Classic". Lehmann's supreme
skill and practised eye for shapes, lines and technical details bring the works of art to life. What the automobile
enthusiast calls the "soul of his vehicle" (though this may frequently give rise to mirth) is brought to the fore.

What is an etching?
Here is a brief definition from Wikipedia:
"Etching is an intaglio method of printmaking in which the image is incised into the surface
of a metal plate using an acid. The acid eats the metal, leaving behind roughened areas, or if the surface exposed
to the acid is very narrow, burning a line into the plate..."
