Erwin Eisch

Together with Harvey Littleton, (born 1927) founded the international studio glass movement; he was one of the first artists to employ glass as a medium of artistic expression and give it world-wide acceptance. His aim is to transcend mere functionality. Characteristic of his glass pieces, sculptures and pictures are their strong, luminous colours.

enlarge One of the sculptures from the Eisch collection is a self-portrait of the artist Erwin Eisch - a glass head from the "My Father" series. Both material and craftsmanship express individuality, vivaciousness and a fresh sense of aesthetics.
enlarge "Corporeal communication" is what Erwin Eisch has created with his contemporary glass sculpture. This Telephone speaks of the translucence of glass and the fluidity of words. The Frauenau Glass Museum houses a version with a hand-gilded surface.
