Fabric is much more than a simple design element. Colour, structure and design of furnishing fabrics play a decisive role in
shaping the ambience of a room. Fabric has a subtly balancing effect; it unites exterior and interior and attracts glances through
the window.

Ulf Moritz
The Architetur & Wohnen Designer of the Year 2003, Ulf Moritz, is a celebrated man. The many accolades heaped on the
industrial textiles designer, who was born in 1939 in Sroda, Poland, include "fabric magician" and "master of materials".
His fabrics are eye-catching and distinctive, seeming almost to emanate from another world. He weaves magic out of unusual
materials such as horsehair, silk, pineapple fibre, metal, copper, and linen. He attempts to overcome gravity, creating diaphanous,
almost immaterial fabrics, only to turn around and give us rich opulence in gold the next minute.
Moritz is a true master of his craft: as professor of textile design at the Design Academy Eindhoven the avant-garde
designer teaches students how to work magic in interior design.

This fine fabric, called Gypsy, is what Moritz would probably term "feminine".
Another triumph for his commitment to making materials that "glow, seem weightless, bring movement to a room,
stimulate it, change and renew it".

Moritz's fabric collections can also be found in the Stendelijk Museum in Amsterdam or in the Cooper-Hewitt-Museum in New York.
The trendsetting designer is acclaimed not only for his fabrics, but also for his creative wallpaper collections. Dusty old clichés
have been firmly routed in Moritz's designs, which use special materials to create structure, movement and light reflexes.
The wallpaper shown here has a far-eastern minimalist look.
