Fabergé-Egg
Speial Edition
The Dresde Frauenkirche

Fabergé works of art were created to commemorate very special occasions.
To honour the restoration of Dresden's Frauenkirche church, the world-famous company Fabergé designed and crafted a very limited series of twelve superb eggs.

Exclusive Life was invited to take a closer look at one of these truly magnificent pieces, and we were overawed by the superlative workmanship, skill and passion that have gone into making these wonderful objets d'art.

Dresden is home to several world-famous buildings which attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The Frauenkirche, the city's iconic church, was restored over a period of 15 years and finally opened again to the public in October 2001. The magnificent baroque church was designed by George Bähr in the mid-18th century.

The restoration work was a truly historical process in which many, many people were involved. The ¤100 million needed for the project was raised by donations. The world took the fate of this mythical building to heart , which for so many years was a moving symbol of the destructive power of war.

The Pforzheim-based company Fabergé and the jeweller Leicht played a small, but significant part in helping to restore the Frauenkirche by creating a magnificent work of art together: the Fabergé Dresdner Frauenkirche egg, limited to twelve eggs only.

Fabergé and Leicht were able to donate almost Euro 50,000 from the proceeds of the sale of these eggs to the restoration project. A very satisfactory sum, which also reflects the great esteem in which Fabergé creations are held.
