Only 100 of these superb ashtrays were made - not one more. This limited edition alone would be sufficient to put the ashtray in a class of its own. But cigar enthusiasts might want a few more details: consisting of 24-carat gold or platinum combined with 1.6 kilograms of pure glass, this ashtray is a beautifully designed object d´art which also fulfils a very useful purpose.

For all our readers who want to know how this magnificent piece was made, here's a description of the production procedure used to make the cigar ashtray. In three consecutive firing stages in a high temperature oven the three elements - glass, gold and platinum - are smelted to form a single piece which is then shaped. Platinum and 24-carat gold are laid between three layers of glass and melted together using a special process. The object is cooled between the three firing stages. The whole process takes two and a half days to complete. The ashtray is then signed and the customer receives a piece that is truly unique - an eye catcher guaranteed to get even the most sombre of cigar devotees smoking with excitement.

After the first firing the ashtray is engraved and painted. The layers are returned to the oven for the second firing, but this time they are placed on top of each other. Three layers of glass are used to make the cigar ashtray. The oven is heated to 800 degrees and the layers fuse together. No more corrections can be made to the painting after this stage. The painting and the variations that occur due to firing make each ashtray a truly unique piece.
