His father a renowned ecclesiastical goldsmith in Mainz, his mother the "good soul of the household" and both deeply loved by their son, "Ric Weiland".
You might think it impossible to step out of the shade of such strong influences, but Richard Weiland II. succeeded in doing so: endowed with the talents of his parents - the love of the goldsmith's art and the self-discipline of his mother - he has brought forth a further virtue, namely complete surrender to enjoyment of life. This love of people and life is lavishly symbolized in his unusual jewellery creations. One example is his outstanding collection The Human.

The Three Dimensions of Life:
"The past with its beauty, the future with hope. But the moment, with its great magic, is the greatest gift in life." (Ric Weiland)
Money:
"Humanity, you have created money and you believe that you can buy dignity, personality and power with it; but be wise and ensure that you do not crush yourself under its burden." (Ric Weiland)

The Island of Love
"A place where love in all its beauty dwells."
Ric Weiland speaks symbolically through a sculpture of coral on a pearl shell. Gold and solitaires are symbols of eternity; the Ceylon sapphires stand for faithfulness.
The jewellery creations in The World of I, expresses better than any other of his unique creations what Ric Weiland considers to be the basis for living together: respect for others and their feelings and dreams, and love for oneself. The amethyst base stands for nature's strength, the crystal symbolises both purity and inner radiance.
