Walter Köng (1908-1989)

Special coachwork based on Bentley, Mercedes, Cadillac or Delahaye were his hallmark. Walter Köng  created world-famous masterpieces, and if you're really lucky you might just catch a glimpse of one of them "in the wild".

The coupé pictured here is one of the most imaginative pieces to have come from Köng's talented hands.

Walter Köng, coachwork specialist and president of the "Union Européenne de la Carrosserie" is still one of the true giants in his field.

A magnificent two-door limousine or an oversized coupé with the comfort of a four-door vehicle? Perfect craftsmanship created this unique car on the basis of a Riley 2.5 in 1948.

"Targa" made in Switzerland. Long before Chevrolet and Porsche gave their cars glass sunlights, Walter Köng in Basle was already making this early form of A/C. But despite numerous other fine details the "Köng Riley" remained the only one of its kind. Mahogany bumpers and tanks on both sides were not enough to justify the price of 40,000 Swiss francs. Today this superlative car is privately owned and is regularly piloted through the Swiss Alps.
