DB6 Vantage
Aston Martin DB6 VantageIn the mid-1960s, when the mini was becoming a popular icon, skirts hit an all-time high and tough guys were becoming increasingly rare, the Aston Martin family presented a new addition which bore a strong similarity to its big brothers DB4 and DB5, but which by nature was more of a "nice guy".
The features of the new car were so untypical that even Her Majesty's main man, agent 007, kept well away from it. A spacious coupé with power steering, automatic transmission (except for the Vantage) and an integrated rear spoiler just didn't cut any ice in the world of mobile machos who only wanted to flaunt the well-developed muscles in their accelerator foot and gear-shift arm to amaze the ladies.

Not even an impressive amount of new technology and power helped: for many years the DB6 was mistakenly perceived as the "feminine" Aston.
This DB6, bought in March 1966, attained fame as the test car used by auto journal "Autosport". In the October 1966 issue the renowned motor journalist John Bolster reached a maximum speed of 152 mph in this very car!
